Sorry to contact you this way but you leave me no choice. It would be good of you to send Dad's watch back to Lori as it has extreme sentimental value to our family. Thanks in advance.

I used to babysit Erland's daughter, Isabella. I remember how Isabella's face would light up when she heard her father's car pull in the driveway when he got home from work. She and Erland had such a special bond. He was such a kind man and he loved his wife and daughter more than anything. I am so fortunate that I was able to know Erland and his family. He is truly missed.

To the Hawkins family ... I have just learned about Erland's passing and am so sorry for your loss ... I worked with Erland at Delta when we were both International In-Flight Service Operational Supervisors ... he was a delightful individual and a very good Supervisor who had great compassion for those he worked with and for ... he will truly be missed!

I am truly saddened to hear of Erland's passing. I served with him in the Japan Kobe mission in 1980. I have tried to contact him several times over the years, but was always unsuccessful until now when to my shock I find his obituary. I was Erland's first companion in the mission field and have many fond memories of walking the streets of Nishiwaki Japan with him and teaching some wonderful people. He was an incredible person and a blast to work with! He will truly be missed, I am sure.

Thanks for the memories. I was lucky to have met Erland after 9/11 when the world was in chaos. Erland had a calming way about him that just brought tranquility to those around him. My first memories included Erland and Anne making many trips to Guatemala and how they wanted to share the love they had. Isabella you are the result of that love and are blessed to have them as your parents. The joy they found with you is exceptional. Erland would get the same gleam in his eye every time he talked about Isabella, Trevor and Nathan. He was so proud of his children. I loved getting into serious dicussions with Erland because he seemed to want to soak up as much information on a subject as he could. The discussions were always thoughtful and when political in nature, quite humorous. I imagine he is up there now having a discussion with St. Peter. Erland, we will miss your smile and laughter but not the way you touched our hearts --you will always be there. God's speed my friend.

Anne, Isabella, Trevor, and Nathan, my heart is heavy with grief over the loss of a dear friend and former coworker, who gave nothing but an abundance of support, love, kindness, and humor to all who were graced with his presence in their lives, even if only for a moment in time! He was inspirational to me in personal life, and in my work efforts. He left me with many positive thoughts and pursuits with his encouraging words! I also had so many fun times with him in Portland, and when we all went dancing,he made me feel like I had pretty feet, even though they really were ugly duck feet!! And oh, how his funny ways and energy could make me laugh!!! I most admired his heart!! His love for his family shown through in every breath and word he spoke!! Loved my Erland friend, and will always be grateful for God's gift of his friendship in my life!! Blessings to all of you, that your hearts will fill with comfort knowing he was amazing to all!!

Erland was my supervisor and oh how I loved him. He was such a caring, funny, witty, smart intelligent man. No matter how big or small the problem he was able to make you feel so much better. I do recall when he met you, as a matter of fact Anne I think you got the most beautiful feet according to Erland. I don't know if you remember but at the DL Christmas party he introduced me to you and said." She is the one I want to clone" what a compliment coming from I said before he was just able to make you feel so good. I am so so sad that you and Isabella have lost him, but he will live in our hearts forever.

My heart breaks for all Erlands family and friends. This is a tragic mystery and I pray you will all find peace in your many wonderful memories. I knew him only for a short time and his name alone makes me smile. What a fun, warm, intelligent young man. May God bless you all.

Erland had a way of making his friends feel like they were the most valuable treasures he had. I will remember his eclectic taste in music. There are so many memories - in particular Erland's practical way of viewing the world and his deep and insightful questions - he really wanted to understand how and why things are the way they are. While we have lost a special husband/father/friend, I have no doubt Erland is in Heaven watching over all of us. Thank you God, for giving us the gift of Erland Hawkins. Our lives are better for knowing him.

Anne and Isabella - my heart goes out to you; but you both are very strong, and I know you will live on with all the great memories made and that Erland and the Lord will watch over you as you go forward.

It is never easy to lose a loved one but God our Father obviously had a special job for Erland in heaven. Anne and Isabella we are so sorry that this disease couldn't be stopped but we know you have beautiful memories of your time together and you will always have him in your heart. He is now safe and free from pain and will carry on the Lords work in heaven. Trudy and Bob Helgeson

I have such fond memories of Erland. First off he deeply LOVED his wife and 3 kids. You would see him glow just talking of them. He had a special way about him that made other people around him comfortable. His sense of humor was the best! He was a honest, kind, loving, inspiring and beautiful soul and his legacy will continue to live on in his beautiful family and everyone who's heart he touched. I will miss you Brother Earland!

Dear Hawkins family,
I knew your Dad only briefly, but he made a wonderful and lasting impression. I admired his friendly smile and sincere warmth. He and Anne were and will always be a "Team". He was willing to help others, willing to share his opportunities to help their dreams come true. This is Erland; the husband, Father, son and friend I was privileged to know. I'm sure he is resting peacefully and although his time with us was brief, all the love and memories you made togehter lives on.

May you receive comfort from knowing his was a life well lived, and comfort in knowing your Dad was lovingly devoted to you and Anne.

With loving sympathy,

My prayers go out to Anne and Isabella. Erland was one of the best supervisors that I've ever had. I was in my 20s when I started so a little wet behind the ears and nervous. He made DL a fun place to work with the utmost professionalism. I will always remember that one of his favorite bands was U2. lol! God broke the mold.

In the few times I spoke to Erland it was obvious he had a great spirit about him. Seemed very whity and would not hesitate to let you know he adored his family. I pray for Anne to continue leaning into God for comfort while the family visits unchartered days. Praying for you.

I will never forget the talks I shared with Erland and how he could always make others laugh. I feel very fortunate to have been able to get to know Erland and am thankful for the time I was able to spend with him. I considered Erland as more than just a boss but also a friend. Erland was taken from us far too soon. He was a great man and someone we and i know he will never be forgotten.

There's never a moment that's right in our lives for losing a person we love. It's hard to know why things happen like this, so we turn to our Father above. He'll lighten the loss and the sadness we're feeling with strength only He can impart, and just as a father embraces a child He will shelter us near to His Heart.

May it comfort you to know that Erland is with God and that His love is eternal and immeasurable.

With Deepest Sympathy, from the Bolden Family.

I will miss you Erland, and our talks.

I will always remember Erland's ability to bring others together through laughter. He was kind and fair toward his co-workers and I enjoyed every opportunity I had to interact with him during his time in the Delta Crown Rooms (Sky Clubs) in Atlanta. He was truly special and I send my condolences to his family during this time of loss. May you find comfort in his memory.

Erland was my supervisor at Delta when Chris & I first began dating. It makes me smile every time I think about how much he teased us about our budding relationship! :) I got the chance to repay that teasing when he & Anne started dating! (I hear you have beautiful feet Anne!) There was never a time Erland did not have a smile on his face and love in his heart. It has been quite some time since we have seen Erland and Anne but we have never and will never forget how beautiful their love is and what strong, wonderful people they are. Isabella, your Daddy was one of the most wonderful people that we have ever known. Bless you and your Mommy in this difficult time.

My dad was a warrior. He taught me to be strong caring honest and loving. As I grow up I want people to look at me and see my dad. I know he is soaring with huge wings right now watching over my family. I love you always and forever

Erland was a gentle soul who will always live on in our memories and hearts. His quick wit, calm demeanor and sense of self was a true example of what others should strive to obtain and his ability to capture the attention of anyone in a room with his choice of conversations was exceptional. He loved and respected his family and they were the first thing he always wanted to talk about. Erland will be missed by so many and our prayers and thoughts are with his family and friends.

When Erland comes to mind I get a smile on my face. I liked being around him, smart and witty but kind of quiet with stealthy retorts. When he was "the boss of me" it was great. He was fair and accommodating, truly a gift from God. Erland was a leader in my opinion, he lead by example, he didn't need to use his words all the time. He was the type of guy that you wanted to befriend or hang with. Erland, we know you're in a better place but it hurts to see you leave us so early.
